Perfect for the Caminito del Rey. It is near the exit of the Caminito (south access). The bus stop for the north access (the entrance) of the Caminito is just in front of the hotel, across the street - buy the ticket in the booth beside the bus stop and leave the bus at the "Kiosko Restaurant" stop (access to the actual entrance starts there, via tunnels under the rocks). When you end the Caminito, you will be near the hotel and your car. Plan to take the bus at least one hour before your entrance time (check bus table time because they are not so often). There is plenty of space in the street to park. Good restaurant (we had dinner but did not try breakfast). The room we got has two floors and a narrow spiral stair to reach the bed above (difficult for people with limited mobility, probably not an issue if you will do the Caminito). Great view from the window (if you get a riverside room). The room is comfortable, with a separate living room and a sofa.

The hotel is an excellent place to stay for the Caminito Del Rey (and probably otherwise too). Our experience was excellent, from start to finish. The staff were really helpful and nice. Check-in was quick. Our room (209) was beautiful and cosy. As others mentioned before: the stairs to the bedroom were narrow and steep, but it was fine for us to be honest (probably you don't want to take your big suitcases upstairs though). Everything was spotless in our room - and in the hotel too. We had dinner in the restaurant: it was amazing. We both loved it. I can only recommend the steak, I loved it. Breakfast was equally great. One thing to note though: they make everything to order (everything is super fresh and tasty), which can be tricky when you are trying to get to the bus on time for your Caminito Del Rey hike and the place is busy. We checked out before our hike but we could leave our backpacks/suitcases here and collected them after our hike.

The village is a bit of a challenge to reach whichever direction you come from but well worth the journey! Train station is directly opposite if coming from Malaga. This is an amazing old building which has been imaginatively turned into a great hotel. Good choice of room styles and views. Ours was a split-level style with a lovely bed and good bathroom. Pool is excellent and very welcome after a hot day hiking. Sun terrace is good. Restaurant is more or less the only game in town but is actually pretty good and views are to die for. The Caminito bus runs from right outside and when you've finished the walk it is lovely to just stroll back to your room rather than have to schlep back up the hill to collect your car or wait for the train! They have great links with local guides for hiking, climbing, cycling etc.

Overall we had a very pleasant visit. The location was excellent, with views of the reservoir, the rocky mountains and indeed the Caminito del Rey. Parking was free as well. With a bus stop opposite for the Caminito and its closeness to the finish of the walk, it is ideally placed. We enjoyed having the use of the outdoor pool (great views). Staff at the hotel are very pleasant and friendly. I should mention that a very good breakfast is served at the table - no wasteful buffet - but it does need a little more planning if you have a bus to catch. Our spotlessly clean room was on two levels - a very comfortable "sitting room" and a good size bedroom with an en suite bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, and we had great views over the lake and mountains. Great being able to watch vultures circling.

Barry

We had a lovely ground floor room by the pool. The room was clean, a good size and suited us for a week's stay. We enjoyed the pool several times, which was also of a decent size. The views from dinner and the pool were spectacular - of the gorge and Caminito del Rey. We had really good breakfasts - essentially as much as you want and with fresh fruit and orange juice as well as both hot and cold mains. We usually ate in the restaurant, which had a broad menu and a good range of wines. The staff were always kind and helpful. We think most people come for a short trip, to walk the Caminito, but were in El Chorro for rock climbing and felt we enjoyed the best local accommodation and food.
